What We Do

eBook ghostwriting, editing and proofreading

Two different jobs sit on this page. Writing a book you have not started, and rescuing one you have.

Premier Design Agency writes eBooks from interviews with your team, and edits manuscripts written by other people. Lead magnets, business books, technical guides and self published titles. Design and formatting are included rather than quoted as an afterthought, because a well written book in an ugly file still looks unfinished.

Most business eBooks are twice as long as they should be

Length is not credibility. A twenty page guide that answers one question properly gets finished, gets shared and generates enquiries. An eighty page volume covering everything gets downloaded, skimmed for a minute and forgotten, and it costs four times as much to produce. When a client asks for a long book we ask what the reader is meant to do at the end. If there is no good answer, we recommend the shorter version and quote less.

Scope

What a full eBook project covers

Six stages when we write it. Editing projects start at stage four.

Outline and structure

User roles, permissions, data model and the edge cases nobody mentions until week ten. Written down and agreed before anyone estimates a price.

Interviews and research

Sessions with whoever holds the expertise, plus source gathering. This is where the material comes from that makes the book worth reading.

Ghostwriting

eBook ghostwriting services and business book ghostwriting services written in your voice, chapter by chapter, with review points between each.

Editing

Developmental editing services on structure and argument, then line editing services for authors on rhythm, clarity and the paragraphs that sag.

Proofreading

Book proofreading services as a final pass on grammar, consistency, captions and cross references, done by someone who has not read it forty times.

Design and files

eBook design and layout services plus eBook cover design services, exported as PDF, EPUB and print ready where you need it.

Services

Book any stage on its own

Plenty of clients need one part rather than all six. Editing levels are different jobs and are priced differently.

Ghostwriting

We write the whole thing from interviews. You supply the expertise and the review time, nothing else.

Developmental editing

Structure, argument and what to cut. The biggest improvement available on a finished draft, and the one most authors skip.

Copy and line editing

Copy editing services for books covering sentence level clarity, consistency and tightening, without altering your voice.

Proofreading

Proofreading services for businesses and authors as the last pass before publication. Errors only, no rewriting at this stage.

Assessment

Manuscript assessment services giving you a written report on what works, what does not and what it needs before you spend on editing.

Formatting and publishing

Self publishing formatting services and kindle formatting services, so the file passes store validation the first time you upload it.

How it runs

Our process, chapter by chapter

You review as it goes rather than receiving a finished book to argue with.
Stage 1
Outline
Chapters, argument and length agreed. We push back here if the book is longer than the job requires.
Stage 2
Sample chapter
One chapter written and reviewed before the rest begins, so voice problems surface early and cheaply.
Stage 3
Draft
Written in batches with interviews as needed. You comment on each batch rather than waiting for the end.
Stage 4
Edit and proof
A separate editor, then a separate proofreader. Neither is the person who wrote it, which is the point.
Stage 5
Design and deliver
Layout, cover and every export format, checked on a phone, a tablet and in print before handover.

Judge us on one chapter

Before any full project we write a single chapter or assess your manuscript, whichever applies. You see the voice, the structure and the standard on something real. Continue and the fee comes off the project. Stop and you keep the chapter.

Questions

Questions authors and companies ask

01
How much does an eBook cost?
Editing and proofreading an existing manuscript starts at $1,400 for up to 20,000 words. A written lead magnet is $3,800 including design. A full ghostwritten book starts at $18,000. Research depth moves the price more than length does, since a book drawn from your own expertise costs less than one requiring outside study.
02
What is the difference between editing and proofreading?
Developmental editing changes structure and argument. Line and copy editing works on sentences, clarity and consistency. Proofreading is the final pass for errors only. They run in that order and doing them out of sequence wastes money, because proofreading a chapter you later cut is money burned.
03
How much of my time will this take?
Around six to eight hours across a lead magnet, mostly interviews and review. A full book is closer to twenty hours spread over three months. We do the writing, you supply the thinking and the corrections.
04
Will it sound like me?
That is what the sample chapter is for. We work from recorded interviews, so the phrasing is drawn from how you actually explain things. If the sample misses, we adjust before writing the rest, and voice is normally settled by chapter two.
05
Do you use AI to write books?
For research and outlining, sometimes. Not for the manuscript. A ghostwritten book only works if it carries your specific experience, and generated prose averages that away into something that sounds like everyone.
06
Who is credited as the author?
You are, alone. Ghostwriting means exactly that: no credit line, no acknowledgement, no portfolio use without your written permission. The manuscript and all rights transfer to you on final payment.
07
Can you help me publish it?
We format for Kindle, Apple Books and print, and support the upload. We are not a publisher and do not take a share of royalties. If you are weighing self publishing against seeking a publisher, we will give you an honest view of both.
08
My draft is half finished. Where do I start?
With an assessment. We read it and send a written report on structure, voice and what it needs, before anyone quotes for editing. Sometimes the answer is that two chapters are worth keeping and the rest should be reworked from an interview.
09
How long does a book take?
Four weeks for a lead magnet, three to four months for a full book. Editing an existing manuscript runs two to three weeks. Your review turnaround is the main variable, and we build the schedule around what you can realistically commit to.
